    Hi,

I can’t edit to tape from FCP 5 to a Panasonic DVCPro AJ-D95dc deck. Both “Insert” and “Assemble” are grayed out when I drag a sequence to the Edit to Tape window.

The deck has Analog Y and SDI video conectors. I have tried both independently with the same result. I can print to tape. I can also black and code from the Edit to Tape window. The deck is set to remote and I have selected the correct position for the “Input Select” switch on the front, analog for Y and SDI for SDI. “Rec Inhibit” is turned off.

    Configuration:
Dual 2.7 G5 4.5 GB RAM, fibre channel
    2.8 TB XServe RAID
    Decklink Extreme
    Dual 23″ LCD monitors
    OSX 10.4.1
    QuickTime 7.0.1

I’m pretty sure that isn’t an edit capable deck. Check Panasonic.com.

Now I’m confused. I can’t find that deck on the Panasonic site. I thought you meant the AJ-SD93 which has the following footnote…

    “Footnotes
1 The AJ-SD93 will record the output from a nonlinear editor. Adding optional accessories will not enable insert editing capability.”

You have to go up to a AJ-SD930 to get insert editing in Pro50.
