    Hi All,

I’ve created a project that will be used as an intro and exit template for a series of videos that I’m working on. I’ve just run into an oddity that I can’t explain in that selecting the template project and trying to duplicate it (Cmd-D) fails. Viewing the contextual menu on the project shows Duplicate as disabled.

I recall doing things this way on a previous project in 10.0.9. Is there a new restriction on project management, or could this be a bug that I should report?

    Can you make a snapshot?

    If not, try trashing prefs.

    Thanks, Jeremy,

I did the “Preferences Trash” and I can now duplicate the project.

Why are the preference settings so fragile (rhetorical question)?

[Tim Jones] “Why are the preference settings so fragile (rhetorical question)?”

    Well, that’s easy. Two reasons:

    1) Life is hard.

    2) They are designed to be disposable.

    Hi Tim,

I think in FCPX they have made preferences much more user friendly. I found this quite anoying at the start but over time I got used to them.

I have created a library template that I use for every new wedding I need to edit. The library contains a project template that contains pre-established smart collections and keyword collections and structured with pre-established folders to hold specific collections.

When Im ready to start editing a new wedding project, I’ll first create a new library for my wedding, then copy my wedding template project from my library template to my newly created library. Then I’ll start importing media to the pre-established keyword collections in their pre-established folders as appropriate. This keeps all of my wedding libraries/events uniform.
