  • Can’t center Dip to Color Transition on one edit – (one of four)

Posted by Mitchji on September 1, 2005 at 10:29 pm

    Hi,

I have a timeline where I have applied the Dip to Color Transistion four times. One of the four won’t allow me to center it on the edit. The timeline is DV. The clip before the transition is about 10 minutes long. The clip after the transition is 18 seconds long.

I am running FCP 5.0 under Tiger 10.4.1.

    Thanks,

    Mitch

first question to ask is: Do you have sufficient handles on both clips for the transition? Trim one or both sides to be sure you have enough media for the effect.

Have you placed the transition at the very head and tail of these clips, or have you properly made certain to leave handles on both sides to provide frames for the overlapping transition?

    Hi Wes,

I didn’t realize there needed to be extra footage beyond what is in the timeline.

    Thanks!

    Hi David,

I am adding transitions to footage that was already edited so I cut the clips right at the end. I didn’t know I needed handles (normally they are there automatically).

    Thanks!
