  • Can’t capture HDV in FCP… Help!

Posted by Tommyboy on August 30, 2007 at 1:38 pm

I have a client how wants some HDV footage off of a Sony CMOS HDV/DVCAM. It says on the camera screen that it is 1080i, but the only way I’ve been able to capture is through DV NTSC settings. When I try the HDV settings, the capture window is black, even though I can control the camera. Does anyone know what settings my project needs to capture from this camera? The DV capture of it looked dark and pixalated when blown up.
    Thanks

I havent used that camera but with the Z1 has a down convert option so if it shot in 1080i you can capture either hdv or DV. So you need to make sure that your camera is outputing HDV. THe best way to capture is to put your “easy” settings to hdv 60i.
    good luck

I had it at 1080i, and FCP on the same… I could control the camera, but not see any video in capture window. This is not my camera, and neither me or the own knows it. I’m not sure about any down conversion option.

Thats sounds the same as when the camera is set to down convert. In the menu on the camera there is two arrows in there it has all the rec/playback options one says down convert.
