can’t capture from Canon HV-30
Not sure if I took DV or HD footage from my Canon Vixia HV-30… But I keep getting Unable to Initialize Capture Device when I try to capture footage. I’ve changed the settiings in Easy Setup and Audio/Video Settings about a dozen times back and forth and can’t get anywhere. I was able to get to a point where the Capture Now button was available but when I clicked on it the icon just went to the icon of the reel turning for a few seconds, a window seemed to appear for a second then disappeared… I’ve tried the uncontrolled setting but can’t get anywhere. Would appreciate any approaches… Thanks.

have you tried the “HDV” setting on the capture settings. Yes it is generic but if you have tried others try that. OR you can pick a prores setup as well.
