I have a relatively new canon ZR100 video camera. This camera records to mini DV tapes. I’ve had this camera for about 2 years, and it has been problem free, untily recently. All of a sudden everytime I put a tape in and turn it on, this LOUD beeping comes on it the LCD screen says “REMOVE THE CASSETTE.” It will not play, and it will not record. It does this to every tape I put in with NO explaination.

Does anyone know why the camera is doing this? Or how to fix it? Thanks

There’s a good chance that the tape heads (the spools that read and write to the tape) have either become dirty or warn out. You can try purchasing a cleaning cassette- definitely go with a Cannon brand tape, as they have different viscosity. If that doesn’t do it you might look at getting the tape heads replaced. They are however, pretty expensive.
