Canon XLH1 – capturing video on WinXP
Hi all.
A close friend of mine has asked me to help. He has some 100 or so tapes all recorded on his Canon XLH1. He needs to have these transferred to a dedicated hard disk. I will be using the camera for all this (realizing that it wasn’t designed to be a deck).
What’s the best app to simply do the xfer on WinXP (or if I have to, Win7)? I’ve seen references to Canon’s CameraWindow, but wow – comments about that app are not very positive. I’ve not been able to even location where to download the app, but maybe that’s a good thing…
Anyhow, hoping you have some suggestions.

Using XP with firewire you could try “HDV Split ver.77” its a freeware utility you could download and try.
