I used the JVC HD-110u camera and recorded my footage using 720 24p. My friend has a Canon XL-H1 and I wanted to know if I could use the camera to digitize the 24p HDV footage? Will it cause any problems using a different frame rate?

Also does anyone think it would be easy to match footage shot from the JVC using 720 24p with Canon’s 24f? I want to use multiple cameras for an upcoming shoot and these are the only two I have available.

    Thanks,

JVC is real 24p. Canon is ‘blended’ 24F (fields). If you can live with the resolution loss than you should be fine in post as long as you convert the canon footage to match the JVC codec or visa versa or just use apple’s ProRes. Just make sure they’re the same.

You cannot use the XL H1 to play back JVC HD-110u footage or vice-versa. You’ll need the actual camcorder which the footage was captured on to play the footage back and capture from.
