  • Canon XHA1s to FCP capture produces grey bar through footage

Posted by Bill Sparkes on June 30, 2010 at 12:29 am

    Hi,
I am attempting to capture footage from the Canon XHA1s into FCP 7 Leopard OS. I’ve tried all possible capture settings and two things happen.
    1. It can only capture 1 to 2 seconds of footage. Then prompts either “Acquisition Complete” or “Reached end of tape” and quits the capture session.
    2. With the settings of Capture Preset: HDV and Device control Preset: HDV Firewire Basic, it starts capturing normally but shows a wide horizontal grey bar across the entire captured file.

Am I supposed to have some kind of plugin for the XHA1s to work with FCP?
    Any other suggestions?

Ive experienced this when capturing to a codec that was in “trial” mode. It was functioning as a watermark. Just a thought.

    Thank you for your response.
I checked in the Plugins folder and the only ones relevant to Sony is (SonyExportPlugin.bundle and SonyImportPlugin.bundle)
I have edited with many different cameras and never had this issue.
    Any other ideas?
