I am researching the best affordable prosumer camcorders with the most bang for their buck and have narrowed it down to the Canon XH-A1S and the Panasonic AG-HMC150. They are pretty close in the price range of what I can afford. I am an artist frequently working in video and also do some videography gigs part-time. I have heard overwhelmingly great things about the Canon. Is the card vs. tape really a big issue? Is it different editing with AVCHD with the Panasonic? Is the Leica lens on the Panasonic better quality? If anyone can tell me why they love one camera over the other it will greatly help me in making a decision. Thanks!

if you have a super computer, AVCHD wont be a problem… my Quad i7 despises AVCHD.

i have to transcode AVCHD, which takes about 9x the length of the film.

MiniDV is very cheap, and you have backup. if you lose a hard drive, you could lose footage with AVCHD…

    i love my xha1, but i love my 5d more 😀
