Canon HV30 not recognized by MacPro
We recently acquired new MacPro computers for our high school video lab, replacing the older iMacs. The MacPros only have Firewire 800 ports, not 400 ports like the iMacs. We have not been able to get FCP on the MacPros to recognize the Canon HV30 cameras, using a FIrewire 800 cable with the small 4-pin(?) connector at one end for the camera. The indicator that normally appears on the camera’s LCD showing it’s connected doesn’t show up either. The cameras work fine with the older iMacs using a Firewire 400 cable. Is there some other special cable or adapter necessary for this? Or is there some configuration issue? Why else would FCP on the MacPro refuse to recognize the camera? Both Canon and Apple tech support didn’t have an explanation.
