I am upgrading my hardware to a new 27″ iMac. I currently have a Canon GL1video cam and capture video from it (tape) to Final Cut Pro via firewire on my older G5 desktop. At this time I’m still using FCP 4.5HD
I see that the new iMacs have firewire800 and Thunderbolt. Does anyone know if the GL1 is compatible for video capture on the new iMac?–or someplace I can go online to find out?

I’m going to upgrade my camera and to a newer ed of FCP but for now have to watch the funds and upgrade my system first. I’ve also done some research online on FCP X and can’t tell if video capture from older cams will be possible.

I currently do video work in a school setting and do district PR work and video to show on local cable TV.
    Thanks
    Yak

    I believe all you’ll need is a FW800 (9 pin) to FW400 (4 pin) cable to connect the GL1.
