I’m very new to FCP – just installed a couple of days ago. I’m using MB Grinder to make proxy and HQ files. I was able to edit with the proxy files on my 15″ MBP without too much trouble. I then changed my sequence size to full HD and relinked each clip with the full clip and exported the project. My questions: 1) is there a way to relink all the files at one time or do I have to do each one manually? 2) Is this the most efficient proxy workflow? 3) How much of the edit is usually done with the proxy files before you relink the files – just the main edit?

Thanks for any help with this,

You can select all files in the sequence at once and reconnect them to the HQ files. Do it as you have been, but select all the clips in the sequence contained in the Timeline window.

I usually do this reconnection right before I send things to Color for the final corrections.

You’ll need to change your sequence settings for the HQ files before you reconnect. Usually I duplicate the sequence (keeping the old intact in the event things go wonky…
