I have a friend who has a Canon camera that shoots video and still pictures. She is using a program called muvee autoProducer 4 that creates a VCD. Unfortunately the people she gave the video to cannot play it on their computers. Once I installed Nero 6 on my computer I was able to play the video. My question, would she be able to input and author her Canon footage on Vegas Movie Studio Platinum to a standard DVD capable of being played on both a computer and a compatible standalone DVD player?

Thank you in advance for your input. I meet with her later today and wanted to tell her yes or no on being able to use Vegas as her editing/authoring program.

The footage uses an MJPEG codec that comes free with Vegas Pro 8, or there are a number of free installs that you can find on the web. https://www.free-codecs.com/Motion_JPEG_Codec_download.htm has a freebie

    DSE –

Thank you for the information. I’ll pass it on to my friend as well as the other people who cannot open the file. Does that mean the latest version of Vegas Movie Studio Premium will also see this codec? I think she is wanting to change to a better program than the one she is using but she cannot afford Vegas.

Again, thank you for the link. At least everyone will finally be able to open the files.
