Canon Commercial: How’d they do it?
This not the 70k photo commercial that is all over youtube.
I posted this question in another forum awhile back but I didn’t have a link to the actual commercial. I was finally able to find it on the internet:

This is way cool! One way somebody told me it could have been done was by green screening the whole thing but I’m not totally convinced, at least not yet. I understand how it could be done that way but I’m wondering if maybe there’s another way. Any other thoughts?

Looks like it was shot with a camera with some slow-mo/speed ramping ability, and then you could use masks to overlay the parts with different movement and fill in holes frame by frame/cg.
Or, they could have shot the different elements separately using chroma key, but I don’t think you’d have to do it that way.

This is just a heck of a lot of rotoscoping, from what I can tell. Once the individual elements are isolated to their own track, you can adjust their speeds and durations independently.
