  • Canon and Sony match footage to JVC?

I am shooting a short film using the JVC HD-110u. Coming up we have a scene that requires 40 extras and improvisation. To increase productivity we would like to shoot with multiple cameras. The crutch is nobody I know owns the JVC camera. I have quite a few options for the Sony Z1U or Canon XL H1. My question is does the footage shot on these two cameras match the JVC? Which one is closest? If anybody has worked with the cameras and has an opinion I would appreciate it. I want to avoid renting JVC’s if I can.

    Thanks,

I would say use what you have and find some low contrast settings for the camera’s you listed to match in post. Just do a google search for ‘scene files’ or ‘recipes’ for those cams and try them out.
Don’t use any stylized settings! (bleach bypass, invert, warm, etc.)
Use a low contrast setting as it will be the easiest to match in post.
Let us know what you decide and how it works.
