    Hello all,

Before I start, here is a big thank you to everyone who replies to my post, I am in need of some advice.

I am working on a short film that was shot on the Canon 7D. On the first two days of the shoot, the camera was set to record at 1920 x 1080 at 25fps, however unfortunately on the third day of the shoot someone had fiddled with the settings and the DP hadn’t checked it assuming that all was fine and so the last day was shot at 1280 x 720 at 50fps! Now as it turns out, the footage shot on the third day could use different speed changes applied to it for stylised visual effects purposes and so when I conform it to 25fps in cinema tools the footage looks like a very good over crank, however when I play the footage at 50fps on my 25fps timeline, the footage seems a little more sped up than the footage shot at 25fps. My question is: is there a way to make the 50fps footage play back at the same speed as the 25fps footage?

Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks,
    Michael Freedman, London, UK.

Yes. Don’t conform the footage. Drop the 50fps into the 25fps timeline. Every other frame will be removed, and it will play normal speed. But, be blown up 50%, so a little soft.

    Hi Shane,

Thanks for your reply. I’ve dropped the footage as 50fps in the 25fps timeline and it seem a little faster than the normal 25fps footage, it’s also jerky but I guess that to do with every other frame being removed?

50 fps in a 25 fps timeline will delete half your frames.
Movement and Pans will suck big time, ,but it’s the only way to maintain speed.
