  • Canon 5D Mk II – Sigma lenses with black rings?

    Hello Friends!

I’ve been shooting video on the 5D Mk II with the Canon EF 50mm F1.8 lens and I have had great success with it.

I just bought a Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4.5 Macro zoom lens and a Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 zoom lens — they mount on the 5D body just fine, but there are these black rings that appear around the image and I have no idea what they are. This occurs with both of the Sigma lenses. There is an image below.

Does this have something to do with the full-HD sensor on the 5D vs. crop-sensor lenses? I don’t really understand why there should be a difference if that is the case.

    Canon EOS Mark II
    Shutter Speed 1/40
    Aperture 1/4
    ISO 320
    Focal Length 28mm

Shot with the Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC
