  • Canon 5D Mark II – Sycnhing footage that is 23.98 to .WAV files?

    Hello

I have just been handed a drive of Canon 5D Mark II footage as well .WAV files. I am batch processing them in compressor converting the footage to ProRes HQ utilizing a cluster and thus all cores of this newer MacPro station we have.

I did some reading on the cow after searching for this camera and it seems that most people say the camera shoots only 30p but these h.264 mov’s are 23.98 – does this mean they actually shot with the 7D?

Anyways whats most important here is that I wanted to know how to go about properly synching the .WAV files to these transcoded clips.

Any help and advice on this workflow would be greatly appreciated.

    cheers

    sean

Assuming the clips did not go through some form of conversion to 23.98 before being handed off you to, from the looks of it those clips would have been shot with a 7D.

Regardless, you should give PluralEyes a try to sync the WAV files with the footage

I know there are free ways to do this within FCP so if anyone else can advise me on best practices that would be great!

notes from the sound guy were as follows:

track audio recorded on a 702T HDD – transfered via data wrangler.
    Track 1 = lav mic
    Track 2 = boom mic

13 files in total – #13 is 1k reference tone.
No room tone as it was a recording studio so very quiet.
Audio was running majority of the shoot even if cameras were not.

sync via Digital slate with Time of Day T/C taken from master audio. Slate clap at beginning of take.
    24Bits
    48K
    23.97ND
    .WAV files

I wanted to ask you exactly how this process works with the software – when i go to the site it looks like the video tutorials are showing you how to sync multiclips but i need to sync the .wav audio to picture.

    thanks
