I just had a general question about working with Exposure, ETTL, and Canon Speedlites.

If I’m shooting in manual on camera with an ETTL II compatible flash, how do I know if my exposure is correct? Images I shoot always register as underexposed with the camera’s meter, although they come out fine.

Do I just have a feeling for what the exposure should be, or is flash output based on my exposure settings and what is required to meet proper exposure?
