I recently received (2)MXF 1920 x 1080 files from a client to integrate into one of their projects. Premiere CS6 will not recognize it, but Sony Vegas Pro 12 will and plays it just fine. Anyone know of a codec that will work with CS6 to make this happen?

MXF is just a wrapper, like Quicktime. The codec inside can be virtually anything. So you need to determine what codec the file uses and make sure you have that codec installed on your system in the appropriate folder that PPRo can see and utilize.

If Sony Vegas can see it, then import it into Vegas and export out a format that your comfortable using in PPro, maybe DNxHD. Or edit in Vegas is another option….but I’m guessing you want it in PPro for a reason.

Yes I can obviously export it from Vegas, but the client wants to use the original files, and the edit is already a very complicated Premiere project that needs to be finished there. I am simply looking for a codec that could be added to my system that Premier can use to see the file. So far, am finding nothing. The client may have to accept a transcode!
