Cannot make multi-clip-frame sizes are different
I am using two angles to make a multi-clip for editing in FCP. Cam 1 is a Panasonic HVX200, project is recorded on DTE Focus FS-100 in DVCPro HD 1080I/60. The frame size of captured clip is 1280 x 1080.
Cam 2 is a Sony HVR-Z7U, project is recorded on Memory Recording Unit HVR-MRC1 to a 32GB RiDATA CF card in HDV 1080i/60. The frame size of captured clip is 1440 x 1080.
I synchronized the clips, clicked on the icon to make a multi-clip and got a message that the multi-clip could not be made because the frame sizes were not the same. How can I fix this problem? -

this is my first time to use this forum; I hope I’m doing it right. I converted the 1440 clip to 1280 but got choppy footage as a result like every other clip is missing. Should I go the other way and convert the 1280 clip to 1440?

Ignore John…he is wrong. You need to convert the footage in Compressor to match.

YOu cannot make a multiclip with two different formats. The formats must match exactly. So you need to convert one format to match the other, and it would be better to convert the HDV footage to DVCPRO HD rather than try to convert the DVCPRO HD footage to long GOP HDV.
Or convert both to ProRes.

Do you have differing frame rates? 23.98 and 29.97?
Did you use Compressor and the Advanced Format Conversion settings?

Frame rates are the same 29.97. Yes to compressor advance settings.
