  • cannot get mask intersect mode to work for me

I cannot fathom this out. I have broken this down to basics, I have a green solid layer as a BG with 4 white solid layers above it in the comp. I am creating text masks in PS and pasting them onto white solids in after effects. The intention is to apply a stroke and animate it to ‘draw’ the text. the animation I have got working fine, however, I want only the stroke to be visible and have therefore set the masks mode to intersect. As I understood it this would effectively hide the masks which do not overlap. However, intersect mode does nothing… What have I missed out? These little things drive me nuts.

Ultimately there will be a motion BG behind the anim and cant get away with making the mask layers the same color as the BG.

    Any help gratefully accepted.

Set the Stroke effect’s “PAINT STYLE” parameter to “ON TRANSPARENT”.

Thanks heaps for the that. I was following a tutorial which told me to have the setting to ON ORIGINAL IMAGE. Guess I should send them an email to query that advice.

    Thanks again.
