Cannot find media files after synchronizing double sound clips

There are no clips to find outside of FCPX. The merged clips are virtual clips that don’t exist outside of FCPX’s database. If you’re looking to create new clips with the synced sound then use something like Pluraleyes.

If your friend jumped to Premiere because of that issue he’s likely to be very disappointed. As far as I know it doesn’t handle synced clips any differently – or if it did I’d be mighty annoyed. Imagine if the only way you could sync audio on 200gb of clips was to create another 200gb of clips in the background. Ouch.

As to whether clips are stored inside the FCPX library or not, that’s entirely up to you. Do a search for managed vs unmanaged/external media and FCPX. You’ll find plenty of free beginner training that explains how it works.

Wow. Your friend clearly had no clue what he was talking about. Probably best he switched, yes. 😀

But to be honest, you appear to be missing even the most basic understanding of X also. Which is why I would recommend at least getting a minimum of training first or maybe reading the manual. A good place to start would be here: https://www.rippletraining.com/fcpx-features.html

And Jeff already explained: synced clips (fortunately!) do not exist in the Finder, only its individual components (video file and audio file) do.
