Just wanted to field this here before filling out a report, in case it’s just a local problem.

I have a linked AE comp against an clip(AVI), and I cannot place a transition on the tail of the clip. It automatically snaps over to the head of the AE comp. If I move that AE comp so that it’s not touching the clip, the transition will then apply to the clip’s tail, then I can close the gap I created by moving the comp aside.

Could someone else give this a quick shot and see if it’s not just my setup somehow?

I assume the AE comp does not have handles, the avi does. Hence snapping onto the AE comp.
To get a transition only on the avi, is to make a gap.

You’re right, the avi has handles, but the AE Comp does not. I guess I don’t understand why the transition won’t apply to the avi unless I first make the gap.

Hard to believe that in over 12 years of using PPro this is the first time I’ve tried to do such.

Open the transition in the Effect Controls then you see why it snaps onto the AE comp.
