cannon 5d import problems
I am a producer who shot some features for the first time with a Cannon 5D. I went to the website and downloaded the driver but I still cant log and transfer the video. I am trying to do this on a Powerbook G4 with operating system 10.4.11 with FCP version 6.0.6. any suggestions?

Your machine is severly underpowered, and cannot do the conversion. You need an Intel Mac in order to import/convert the footage to ProRes. Your computer is several generations too old.

I figured as much. This is my laptop but my Desktop is a G5, so you’re saying that won’t work either, only the Intel Macs?

A G5 is still a generation behind…it is 5 year old tech. And ProRes is a new codec. You won’t be able to use Log and Transfer, but you can use Compressor or MPEG STREAMCLIP to convert to ProRes.
Mind you it will take a LONG TIME to do this.

And the Canon plug in requires at least OS 10.5
