  • Can you tranfer an Avid Project to Final Cut Pro?

Posted by Jacqueline Weissman on June 20, 2008 at 1:15 am

    Hi All,

I’m new to this list so please forgive me if this has been discussed before. I’m an Avid editor using the latest version of Media Composer. I have a big project that I want to give to another editor who uses Final Cut Pro. Is there anyway I can use another piece of software to transfer over the entire project? I know Automatic Duck will help me transfer sequences but I have entire logged bins of clips I want to transfer. Does anyone know any process for this?

    Thanks so much.

[Jacqueline Weissman] “I know Automatic Duck will help me transfer sequences but I have entire logged bins of clips I want to transfer.”

Create a timeline for each bin with the same name as the bin. (i.e, Bin Tape 1 will have a timeline called Tape 1. Bin Tape 2 will have a timeline called Tape 2, etc….

Throw all the raw shots from each bin into the corresponding timeline.

Export each Timeline as an AAF.

The FCP editor opens eac AAF using the Automatic Duck. They now have all your Bins with all your shots in it.

The editor will end up with all your bins and an edited timeline at the end.

If you don’t need sequences and just need to transfer logs/bins then simply download the free sebsky tools from https://www.dharmafilm.com/sebskytools
