Can you see 2 Video layers at once.
I am trying to use the RED Bulge filter to follow a curve on a New page I have added on top of an old page of a book on a table.
I have placed the old video clip on Avid Liquid 7.2 timeline on Video 1, the new page on Video 2.
I have positioned the new page using Liquid 3D and page curl.
I apply RED to Video 2 the new page, when red opens up I apply the Bulge filter to the new page, but because I cannot see the old page underneath the new page, I cannot follow the shape.
Is it possible to see the 2 video layers at the same time in RED’s Composition window?

Hi,
All you need to do is to add a new track in RED underneath the V2 track. Then set the media for this new track to V1 and you should be good to go.
You might want to take a look at the integrated electronic help system in RED – there is a wealth of information contained in the help system that would probably be very useful to you.

Since I upgraded to versioin 4, I do not seem to have the
Assistant anymore.
Any ideas why?

Hi Mark,
Yes, this is intentional. The Intelligent Assistant product was discontinued and replaced with the new electronic help system. There are also many tutorials on the BorisFX web site – might be worth a look. You can find them here: https://www.borisfx.com/tutorials/

Hi Mark,
Here’s what you should be doing:
Assuming that you have two tracks overlaid on the Avid timeline …
• apply Boris RED 2 input effect to the layer on top (V2) in the Avid timeline
• enter the RED UI
• you should have two tracks by default in RED with V1 on top and V2 below that
• change the track type from 3D Plane to Page Turn – this should reveal the second video track behind the page turn.
• animate the page turn offset parameter so that it reveals the other video track over time
• click the Apply button to go back to the Avid timelinePlease give that a shot and let me know if this works.

I followed your instructions.
I changed the vid 1 track to page turn, and I can see another track underneath but it is the same as track 1!
It’s not the track 1 I have on the timeline. -

Okay … this is progress in the right direction. Now, click on the yellow V1 text at the right of the track underneath the page turn track and you should see a list which includes V2. Select V2 and this should switch the video to the second video layer in the Avid timeline.

When I changed track 1 to page turn the yellow V1 changed to a Black S, track 2 stayed named track 2.
