Aha! Mystery solved. Set Kart (hope that’s ok with you );) called it right. Now the only problem is getting build 545 which may be available on supplying proof of purchase (serial) and a request to Magix as suggested somewhere.

Hello Scott! Have I got some great news for you! ☺

I myself had this exact same problem, there is a way! So before I say this like it was mentioned earlier if you have 13 (545) then you will not have this problem, but as for you and me we had an older version of 13 so for other people reading or have this problem if you have 13 build (545) you won’t even have to worry as you can transfer back and forth fine with 14 and 13

All you have to do is uninstall 13 (the old version you have)
Either find a trial version of build 545 or like I did find a link for a keygen for it (I had to because it was impossible to find the trial version)

Once that is installed open up Vegas 14 and Vegas 13 (build 545) and you will notice now you have the ability to copy from program to program, do that and save as your project in Vegas 13 build 545, close the programs and uninstall Vegas build 545..

Now all you have to do is re-install your older version of Vegas 13 and you will now notice you will be able to open the project!

Reason I wanted to do this is because Vegas 14 is giving me and my computer WAY too many problems, its super glitchy and always is crashing, I’m assuming its because MAGIX changed up how it works and I guess it doesn’t work well now with my computer so I decieded to just stick with the exact same version of 13 that I have been using for years instead because I know I’ve done very long hours of editing and absolutley no problems have came up and even though 13 build 545 is a better upgrade I suspect that it is even more closer to the changes made in how 14 works and I’d just rather not even risk it

Not Scott here but am here to offer appreciation for your find. I’ve tried it and it mostly works; certainly well enough to be worth the effort. “Mostly” means everything seems to move over except composite settings; I had one small problem with one PIP (why I don’t know as all the others were fine), but, again, nothing that wasn’t easily taken care of. Unfortunately, even though Vegas 14 is unstable, Vegas 13 didn’t prove any better (surprised) probably due to the GTX 670 as I get numerous project killing Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005) Fault Module: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\nvoglv64.DLL errors which won’t go away despite much effort. Anyway, thanks for posting your find!

Since more than a year I use with succes the tool Versionfaker from FocusOnVegas to change the flag of a veg (VPro) or vf (Movie Studio) from or to an older version.
Untill now it failed never with me.
Look here for that and other tools: https://www.focusonvegas.com/movie-studio-vegas-pro-version-faker/
