  • Can you make an actual “shiny floor” in a virtual set?

I’m working on a commercial where the director wants six live action people (shot on greenscreen) composited into a virtual set with a black “shiny” floor. I had achieved this effect by duplicating and then flipping the keyed people on their X axis. I then dropped their “reflection” layer’s opacity to 50% and added a fast blur to enhance the effect. I created a camera that moves from one person to the next as they deliver their lines. The problem I am having is when one person goes behind another, the rear reflection shows through the front one.
Is there any way to create a solid that will actually reflect the layers above it?

Not a bad idea! Im doing something similar. Because my “floor” is black, I am duplicating the “reflection” layer, dropping brightness/contrast and placing it just behind the “reflection”. Your idea is better and will work on any color/texture. Thanks!
