Can you edit in low-res and then reload hi-res?
I’m sure this is a stupid question that will make people’s eyes roll in their heads, but I’m tired of reading all kinds of stuff that is just serving to confuse me more and more.
Program: Final Cut Express HD
Footage: .mov files from 5DMarkIIWhen I import these clips into my project and try to edit… the clips are so large that it takes forever to render just to look through the clips to cut them down. Is there a way to edit the footage with lower quality clips for speedy work and then reload the clips at full quality for pretty picture? If so, how? And, if so… can I do everything… cutting, effects, transitions, colour correction with the small files?
Someone suggested doing the rough draft in iMovie and importing to FCE? Seems silly.
I guess I’m asking how do I start work in FCE for effective, efficient, and safe editing?
