I have created some liquid using 2 planes, extrude nurb, and a displacement. I am trying to get random heights and size in the liquid.

i even added a hyper nurb to smooth the plane and of set the planes to see if i could get sudo organic differences in the liquid.
I have made very nice material but the displacement is too uniform, so i tried to use a random effector on the displacement.

How do i get the random effector to effect the displacement?

Instead of trying to use Mograph I would just work on the displacement material. Try using the layer shader with different noises using different scales, using the overlay transfer mode. You can also put a noise shader in an alpha mask channel.

    thanks.

I was trying to get the liquid’s wave density and size to be different in some areas. Someone mentioned using expresso but i am so new to that its a bit of a hefty order.

I think the problem is that c4d is using a plane to displace and i dont know how to specify the strength of the displacement. sorta like a travel matte would do when animated in ae.

I also added some ambient occlusion and got better contrast and a deeper look.

I have only been at c4d for 1year and mostly for text.
