    Paul,

You will have to transcode to quicktime before using either Flash format in FCP. Not sure what app does that…

BTW, I just tried importing a SWF into FCP 6 and it doesn’t work in ver. 6 either.

sometimes…the best way is to get a nice monitor and just shoot it off the screen!

If your files end in .flv you might have luck installing the Perian Quicktime plugin:

I had to do this a couple of weeks ago. I had to download a program called SWF2Video Converter. you can convert the SWF to an AVI file and you can choose it’s dimensions. It was well worth the $50.

Quicktime Pro will do this for you. Just open it up and export it to whatever you want.

Are you kidding me? Why didn’t somebody tell me this earlier? lol! My quicktime won’t open the swf file. Do you know where to get the plugin?

    Brian,

What Sean left out is that QT Player only plays Flash MX, not the most recent (and only good version) Flash 8. If you want to play Flas MX in the QT Player you must open the QT PLayer Preferences and check the Enable Flash box.

With the free Perian plugin installed you can play FLV8 in Quicktime. With QuicktimePro you may be able to export this to the .mov codec of your choice but I haven’t tried that yet.

I’m still having trouble opening swf files in quicktime. I downloaded perian and I checked the flash box…any other ideas?

You could try recording the video using snapsPro X. Doesn’t work very well with files longer than a couple minutes, but it works, will record in a quicktime compatible format…
