  • Can Vegas do a variable time stretch for audio?

I have an audio track of a heartbeat. I want the heartbeat to slowly accelerate. Time stretch is able to change the heartbeat frequency, but I don’t see how to get the acceleration effect. Can either Vegas or Sound Forge do this?

Sound Forge can. In Vegas, you can only get a single speed change (CTRL-Resize the clip) as the velocity envelope only applies to video in Vegas.

You can absolutely do this in Vegas. Cut up your original hearbeat sound into individual beats using the “S” key shortcut. Copy and paste one individual beat where you want it. If the beats are happening in pairs that increase in frequency and happen closer together (to simulate an increasing heartbeat) just paste the pairs closer and closer together and move them around to get the right amount of acceleration you’re looking for.

Just a matter of cutting and pasting.
