Can Vanishing Point be used on natural landscapes with no obvious flat planes?
I’ve got some stills of country landscapes (mostly hills and valleys) and I’d like to give them a sense of depth with very small 3D camera moves. I’ve never used Vanishing Point before – will it work to give an image a 3D feel if you don’t have obvious flat planes like walls, floor and so on?

I don’t think so. But you can give your 2D landscape image a 3D depth by cutting out different elements using mask tool, displacing them in Z-Axis and a camera movement with Depth of Field Enabled.

Thanks Vishesh. Yeah, I figured I’d probably have to just cut things out manually and displace them in Z-space. I’ll have to find another project to try out Vanishing Point 🙂
