Can the Tape field for Arri raw files in Avid media have frames in it?
So… I’m making Avid media from Arri raw files in Resolve 12.5 and I’m not experienced on Resolve. I’ve done a lot of testing and here’s what I’ve found:
If I make mxf files the Tape name is including the frames in brackets like this: A002C001_170909_R50Q.[0170891-0171586]
Is this going to work for relinking when it goes back to Resolve for a conform? I would assume it would work since Resolve made the media and that Tape name.Edit: I just thought of something… is this because I checked “frames” “Start frame” and “end frame” in the project’s metadata options?
omg… this is so aggravating. I unchecked the frame boxes in metadata and now my Tape field is coming up as 3414×2198. Why???And before I unchecked those frame boxes I had my mxf delivery settings and saved them and it stopped making an AAF for some reason. I don’t know how to make that happen intentionally so I can’t think of anything that would have done that. I’m not too worried about that since I can drag the Avid mdb file in from the media folder, but still, Resolve is full of voodoo imo.
Alternatively, I can make ProRes DNx36 files and then I get a Source File name but no Tape name. I believe the last project I worked on had that but I can’t check right now as I’m not on that system and I didn’t make the proxies. This should work fine, right?
So would either option work fine for conforming later? Is there any reason to choose one over the other?
Thanks in advance for any help!
