Can someone who is proficient in Final Cut Pro, find Adobe Premiere CC easy to edit?
Hey everyone,
I have been using FCP for more than 6 years now, and found a freelance editing gig looking for a proficient Adobe Premiere CC editor. My question is, since I live and breathe FCP will it be easy to switch over to Adobe Premiere?
My advantage is having the internet to guide me with any questions I may have, BUT I wanted to see if I should even take a stab at Adobe Premiere? Any suggestions? I have it on my system, I just never have taken the time to use it, but I definitely wouldn’t mind learning it.I thank you in advance:)

It’s definitely easy. You can even set the keyboard to the Final Cut 7 settings so that you don’t have to deal with altering your muscle memory. There’s going to be some stuff that you have learn/do differently, but it’s very small in the long run. I definitely wouldn’t jump in if you have a project to work on right away, but if it’s on your system and you’ve got some time just to mess around and experiment… do it. The switch is pretty seamless. If you’ve got some online tutorials, that’ll ease the process even more, but you can probably get along fine on your own. It’s THAT similar.

Hey thank you very much, I appreciate your response. It’s such a relief to know that the two programs are that similar. That’s what I was hoping for, which is pretty neat! I will definitely sit down and mess around with it.

Do yourself a favor and read Walter Biscardi’s article on Premiere “Gotchas”. It’s specifically for Final Cut switchers and will save you a lot of frustration.

Super easy to transition, just set up the Keyboard Shortcuts to be FCP’s and you’re 75% of the way there already.
You just need to learn some of the quirks of “well FCP did it this way but how does Adobe do it?”
