I feel stupid even asking this but I have been having a hard time creating web banners. The problem is that my client wants images of his products cut out within the banner. All the images were shot in high res and are therefore very large images. The banner needs to be 468×60 and no larger than 40k. When I shrink my images down, they look horrible.

How do you take an image that is 5600 pixels in size at 300dpi and make that work for a web banner without it looking like one big blob of nothing?

    HELP

Create a blank new doc in PS
    size it 468×60
    72 dpi
    rgb

Then open a hires image and go to resize image
    drop it down to:

    72 dpi
    1200 wide
    rgb
    hit ok

    Then,

drag the 1200 wide image onto the 468 wide new doc.
Then, resize and position as needed (CMD-T)
