  • Can Protools auto-match&sync audio and video with matching TC?

Posted by Jiri Fiala on September 12, 2018 at 10:52 am

I edit this piece in FCPX. I normally sync with Pluraleyes but right now, it creates weird problems (“empty” audio tracks in Replaced clips).

The question is: can I edit with camera audio and leave syncing of dual-system sound to the Protools sound editor? Meaning, can it be easily done? My audio and video clips DO have matching TC. Thanks!

EDIT: there’s way too many clips to sync manually in FCPX, as it doesn’t have batch syncing. Sync-n-Link X is not an option now. Thanks for understanding.

Hello Jiri and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

You might get an answer to this here, but it would probably be a good thing to try the Pro Tools DUC.

Search ‘field recorder workflow’ for info, but really talk to your sound mixer & make sure she is happy with the workflow
