can Premier Pro capture AVI on a Mac?
Either CS3 or CS4. i’m about to install Premier Pro on a Mac at the office tomorrow. We’re hoping to be able to capture to AVI straight onto the Mac as opposed to exporting an AVI later. Basically we’re just trying to find a workflow that allows us to skip the export step when digitizing for clients.
As far as i can tell Premier can NOT do AVI capture out of the box. is this correct? and if so, does anyone know of any plug-ins that would allow for that functionality?
I’ve done a lot of research today and come with surprisingly little detailed information.

When you say skip the step..what step exactly?
I can infer one of two scenarios:
1) You want to use the same source on two machines, one of which is a Mac and one which is PC. In this case flip it…Capture as Quicktime on the Mac and setup a Quicktime Project on the PC ( I think you can do this).
2) You are to capture a file you can simply hand to the client. I can see the validity here, but are you doing any editing? If so, you’d need to export anyway, so I’m not sure what the time savings are.

Scenario 2 is more or less what the goal is. We’d like to be able to digitize video to AVI for delivery to clients. We’ve sort of drifted away from our PCs more or less and are working mostly with our Macs these days which is why we’re looking for the functionality.
