  • Can’ play tapes recorded on JVC 251 PAL

Posted by Aileen Leblanc on January 6, 2011 at 8:01 pm

We shot with JVC 251 ( GY-HD251E ) PAL in Israel 2 years ago — can’t find anywhere that can transfer these tapes or even play them back so that I can edit them in FCP.

The JVC deck (JVC BR-HD50U HDV VTR) does not play them back and JVC says they don’t make the camera anymore. They say to find a camera or the JVCBR 50E deck or the JVCBR51 deck. Can ANYONE point me to a place that can help?

    Thanks

Does anyone know where I can find a JVC 251 PAL camera? Or anyone that might have a list of who may have purchased one? I am stuck with tapes which were recorded on the JVC 251 in Israel and I cannot find a way to play them back.

    I believe the model # is GY-HD251E

    anyone???

    thanks

I’m in Sydney Australia. Local rental house Lemac has the 251E cameras for hire. I have the gear needed to do a transfer. (I own a 111E). I don’t think the 111E will work though as they’ve probably shot at 720 50p and 111E only does 25p.

Long way to send tapes though.

Wonder if you found someone with a JVC 251 Camera ? I own one. If you still need someone to transfer footage let me know…I’m in Brisbane Australia.

I live in Belgium. I have a collegue living in LA who comes to our office every 6 weeks.
He could for example bring the tapes, I could transfer the tape(s) and them give it back to him with a harddisk.
I can transfer strait in Apple ProRes through an AJA KiPro.
