  • Can No Longer Get Usable Audio Levels Out Of V12 ??

Posted by Ken Bennett on March 14, 2013 at 1:50 am

Not sure what happened between V12 and DVDA but I can no longer render usable audio. Audio levels are perfect in V12. Once render, with or without video, the ac3 files that come into DVDA have almost no volume at all. While my menus are LOUD and clear. What happened to DVDA?

    Welcome to Dialnorm

In the Custom Settings for Dolby AC3, bump the Dialog Normalization to -30

I take a lot of time getting my audio right for our PBS series and render than out as MXF files. Do I need to check the audio on those once I render or should they be the same as what they were in my project.

I don’t know about MXF – never used it. But my tip above only applies to Dolby encoded audio. If the client never complained about the audio levels, then you are probably OK.

Thanks. I gave it a test and it didn’t seem to make any changes on the MXF files.
