  • Can new PP CC create a bin of found clips by using the search function?

When using criteria bin search function, can the newest PP CC now create a new bin of clips based on that search? Like FCP 7 is (was) able to do…search, find clips, add clips to new bin selected, all found clips now in a new bin! Thanks.

    Hi Reed,
Yes. In the search box, type the search term in the Find box, for example: IMG_462. Premiere Pro finds all the clips with that prefix. Create a new bin, then drag the clips into it.

    Does that help?

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Yep, that’s what I was looking for. Seems a bit clunky as you type in letters, but it does the job. I noticed with fewer columns open and set to “visible”, it takes less time. I’m upgrading to the new 2013 MacPro so the searches should go much, much faster. Thanks for the advice.

    Hi Reed,
If you are running CC 2014, the search in “Find” has been sped up dramatically. Please update if you have not already.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Yes, the search function before CC 2014 was so slow as to be utterly unusable. (It would take up to 60 seconds–literally–after I typed a short word like “house” or “Sierra Leone” for the letters to simply appear in the box, and for the search to complete would take even longer sometimes.)

But now search actually works! One of my favorite fixes in CC 2014.

Excellent to hear and can’t wait to try it out. This vastly changes the way I log clips.
