  • Can LightWave camera data be used in after efects?

Posted by Dom111 on August 4, 2006 at 11:51 am

    Hi,

Is there a way to import Lightwave camera data into after effects? I want to use the the camera data to drive a depth of field blur effect.
Any ideas how to export camera data from lightwave in a format that after efects can use? Anyone had any success doing this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Dom

Yes. Al Street has compiled the Transmotion Utilities Pack. I haven’t used it in a long time, but if I recall, Chris and Trish Meyer touch on it in one of their Creating Motion Graphics books. Which one? Doesn’t matter. Buy ’em both! 🙂

    [Steve Roberts] “Which one?”

The second one with the Advanced Techniques. ;o) But I concur, having at least once read both of them is a must.

Actully, I think with LW 8 or higher you can embed camera data in either RLA or RPF files as long as you bake the camera data in LW.

So did they get their RLA/RPF anitaliasing act together?

(this is still AE-relevant, regarding recommending RLA (or not) for compositing in AE) 🙂
