    Hi All,

I would like to find out if anyone has any experience working with HDCAM tapes with Dolby E surround audio?
These tapes are typically broadcast master, meant for tranmission.
There’s a need to capture & edit the material on these HDCAM tapes & the 5.1 surround audio tracks are in Dolby E data stream.

1 possibility is to decode the Dolby E into 5.1 discreet audio tracks & capture via AES/EBU.
I’m curious if its possible to keep the metadata of the surround mix in this way.

The workflow is to keep the editing process to the final delivery tapeless & go file-based.
The final distribution surround format is Dolby Digital.
I’m also looking for software to either:

    – convert the Dolby E to Digital

    – discreet audio tracks + metadata into Dolby Digital

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
