April 1, 2014 at 7:33 amHello Kathreen… Is the computer you are using 32bit OS or 64bit OS? Maybe you can provide the actual specification of the PC and what operating system is installed on it. This will help within any advise… Regards John

April 1, 2014 at 3:48 pmgood afternoon dear graham
for the time being i have windows xp pro x32 bits with the sp3 but i can upgrade to either windows xp x64 or to windows 7 x64 as well
yes, i know that sony vegas pro 10 is for x32 and x64 bits
although i do not know what are the main differences between my vegas 8 i have and version 10 and if i will get a much better rendering speed on the vegas 10
ok, my pc is not anything special, it is just a celeron g530 with 4 gb ddr3 ram but i am happy with it

April 1, 2014 at 4:27 pmWell you have to upgrade to windows 7 64bit or Windows 8 64bit
if you want to use the newest versions of Sony Vegas.Steve Rhoden

April 1, 2014 at 4:54 pmAs Steve mentions, to get any improvement then 64bit with version 10e would be a little better for render speeds and I guess there are some more nice options in 10e 64bit..but as you are only running with a Celeron CPU then you will not be getting much better performance so maybe change your OS to 64bit and download the 10e 64bit trial version. As far a am aware you can still reload your version 8 as a 32bit even though you also have the newer 10e 64bit…..but please do not expect life changing performance,,,,, Regards John

April 1, 2014 at 10:38 pmI don’t see much benefit of going from 8 to 10. I’d wait until you upgrade your hardware and then make the move to the latest version – 13 showing next week at NAB!

April 2, 2014 at 1:03 pmI was able to upgrade from Pro 8 to Pro 12 in late December 2012 for only $149 by calling Sony Creative Software directly and asking if they had any specials to give me. The sales guy pit me on hold and came back with the awesome price.
