  Can I run FCP7 on the latest iMac? iMac vs Mac Pro?

  I have a 2009 MBP running Leopard and FCP7, and would like to upgrade to an iMac.
  But can I run FCP7 on the newest iMac with the latest OS?

  Also, can anyone recommend a good iMac configuration for video editing? In other words, if I’m starting off with a basic iMac configuration, what features or specs do I want to make sure I add on, to make it a fast efficient system? (I’m going to start off with whichever model allows for a second monitor.)

  I’m not editing uncompressed 10-bit footage or anything like that, but I’d like to be able to increase my speed and render times when editing 2K ProRes or when transcoding DSLR footage.

  I’d prefer an iMac, but if there is a significant benefit to buying a Mac Pro tower instead, I’d consider that too.
