Can I record all 4 channels of audio with a J3 & Extreme Card?
Hi,
Please excuse the cross post with the one I posted on the Blackmagic forum – there is a genuine overlap in this instance – not sure if the solution lies in FCP or the J3 player….
I am wondering if this is possible. Can I record all four channels of audio – to make an audio mixdown – from a beta/digi-beta cassette with our Sony J3 Digibeta Player using SDI via my Blackmagic Extreme card and running FCP HD? Upon looking at the input capture settings in the audio section in FCP, I can choose between ‘SDI Digital Audio’ and ‘SDI Digital Audio (CH3+4)’ BUT what if I want to record all four channells simultaneously (and I do)? I haven’t got hold of the tapes yet because I want to let my client know if this is possible prior to taking on the job. I have looked through the J3 manual but to to no avail on this answer. And I don’t have a seperate audio mixdown board.

Right now you can only do two at a time, but with FCP 5 you can do upto 24 at the same time.
