  • Can I purchase Stuido 3 or FCP 7 cheaper than Apple; new or used?

Is there anywhere I can purchase Studio 3 less than $800 to $1000? I need FC7. Is anyone selling theirs? Can the license even be re-sold? Ebay’s not an option unless you recommend someone you know well. None of the usual resellers appear to have it cheaper than Apple or have it at all.

    Thanks Elaine

You could purchase the academic version of FCS for $200. The thing is you can’t upgrade the software. You could go the Bit Torrent way, but use extreme discretion.

To what v8? FCS 3 was the very last update. It’s EOL. Unless you move to FCPX. If you want it cheaper, Ebay is your only option.

It appears purchasing from Apple is the only option. I considered the Academic version but not having the ability to update it is a problem. The traditional platform isn’t what Apple is committed to so I hate paying full price but of course they know that. Thank you anyway.

Thank you Steve but I don’t trust Ebay. I’ve gotten burned on software that was pirated. I appreciate the response but it appears I’ll have to purchase from Apple. I need FCPro7 not X.

    Does Apple still have it?
I was under the impression that they were just selling their back stock that was still in their warehouse or that the got back from Retailers when they pulled it for FCPX.

I got 2 copies from EBAY. No Problems. They were NIB and unopened.

Learn from your mistakes. You get what you pay for.

[e. hamilton] “I considered the Academic version but not having the ability to update it is a problem.” Again, there are NO MORE updates. Apple is NEVER going update FCP 7!!!

If you are a serious editor, invest in a software that you are comfortable with. There are free trials of Premiere and Media Composer.
