Can I output 1080p PAL at 29.97fps?
I’m creating a 3d movie for use in Germany. The frames were rendered out of 3ds max at 1920×1080 square pixels. I then composited the frames in After Effects. The client would like the movie in full 1080p, PAL format, at 29.97fps.
I’m no expert on all of the standards out there, especially in regards to PAL, but that seems like an odd mix. Is that even possible? If it’s not possible then I’m assuming I’ll have to move the fps to 25. In either case can anyone tell me which comp present should get the job done?

You need to tell your client that PAL is specced at 25 fps and if they want 29,97 it’ll be NTSC spec.

Thanks for the response. That’s what I suspected. In fact I already went ahead and published the movie with the “HDTV 1080 25” preset.
Their request just planted some self-doubt in me because they’re in a PAL country and I’m not.

The question actually doesn’t make any sense. PAL/NTSC only applies to SD. In HD it’s a framesize and a framerate. So just do 1080p 29.97.
